Second Hand and Ex Demo Native Pony Saddles By Saddle Exchange Saddling Solutions are very unusual and we never have many in stock at any one time.
When we sell you a new saddle we try our best to ensure it will always fit your horse, with adjustment, people tend to buy similar horses and so they can often be refitted if you change horse.
We also give you the opportunity to ride for 2 weeks to make sure it is right for you, and if anything needs to be changed to make it perfect, we then make your special saddle, return for free and swap it.
Therefore we occasionally have them available. When customers have saddles for the 2 weeks and then change for a custom saddle, the saddle they have ridden in becomes an ex demo. These saddles are usually reduced , the price depending on the condition and amount of usage they have had.
We will always take back our own saddles in part exchange if customers would like something else, a different model, newer model or if they have changed horse and the existing saddle cannot be refitted. We will also sell saddles or possibly buy them back if they are no longer required.

Please note we never sell saddles manufactured by our selves on Ebay. We do however often have other brands of saddles we have taken in part exchange and these we usually sell on either Ebay or Preloved.

I am having difficulty locating a saddle in Australia that would be suitable for my New Forest Pony. I was wondering whether you hvae anything that meets the requirements below (from a professional saddle fitter – Judy McArthur).

Weight: 370 kg
Spine width: 4 cm
Wither width: 4.5 cm
Saddle Platform: 35 cm
True drop: shallow >5cm
Gullet width: Wide – Extra Wide
Conformation observations: Tangles is very compact through the saddle platform with a high set rib shelf and low withers. From the top of the spine to the top of the ribs he has a very flat profile. His true drop is very shallow requiring shallow panels that are broad and flat. Through the spinal vertebrae he is average in width however he is not yet skeletally mature. Over the next 2 years he will be changing shape both skeletally and through the topline, so you will require a saddle that has reasonable adjustability. This will not, however, guarantee compatibility at full maturity.
Saddle assessment and recommendations: You need a saddle that has a flat profile of tree with a low u shaped head (often referred to as a “Pony” or “Cob” tree. The panels must be broad and the channel generous in width. In order to get a “trail” saddle you would be best to have a well fitting dressage saddle with removeable knee blocks for trail riding, as discussed today. Maximum seat size will be 16″ and you will require a long flap for your leg length to ensure your knee does not come over the knee roll or push your seat too far back into rear of seat:
A 16″ would be great as I’m a small adult.
